Rest Is Celebrated

If you’re subscribed to our newsletter (and if not, join here!) or following along here you may be wondering where our latest year-end story is.
One of our organizational values is “rest is celebrated.” We haven’t done a very good job of upholding that value and underestimated how much rest we needed following the November municipal elections (and as the only organization that mobilized voters & got out the vote in Charleston).
So, we’re prioritizing the celebration of rest right now and will get back to storytelling in January. Don’t go anywhere, we have a long list of stories to share!
Until then, here are just a few of our favorite moments from this year:
- Hosting “Mayoral Mingle Community Celebration” in partnership with SC Housing Justice Network and 30+ local organizations
- Receiving messages like this from Alan T.
- Launching a first of its kind Get Out The Vote “bar” crawl to help food & bev workers
- Engaging College of Charleston students and registering 128 new voters in 6 hours
- Proving our voices are louder together
- Bringing Frankie’s story to South Carolina
- Joining I Serve With Joy to serve 300+ local families and create this community art project
- Participating in events like Lowcountry LevelUp to engage young folks in rural communities
- Making our TV & radio debuts (didn’t have Fox News on our bingo card for this year)
- Celebrating new partnerships like this one with Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina
- And, if you need to catch up on our year-end stories already shared
In 2023, 98 individuals donated at least $1 to support our work removing barriers to local civic participation so our communities are healthier and democracy more equitable.
Will you join them by making a donation today in whatever amount is meaningful to you?
We appreciate your support.
